TURKISH TREATS

Turkey is the only country in the world situated in two different continents: Asia and Europe. It is therefore really a country where East meets West. Turkey's geographical location made it a natural route for traders, travelers and migrants who all influenced Turkish cuisine. For instance certain Turkish habits such as using sweet spices, fruit and nuts with meats comes from North African cooking and because the Turkish Sultans had complete control over The Spice Road many spices and
seasonings were added to flavour traditional dishes. It's remarkable that Turkish restaurants are not that widespread in the world as Greek ones, although the Turkish cuisine is at least as interesting. Tonight you can test if that is true.
Sebzeli Kirmizi Mercimek Corbasi
'Corba' is the Turkish word for soup. This corba has lentils and ground beef as its main ingredients, combined with vegetables and fresh mint leaves.

Kuzu Kapama (Roast Lamb)
with
Hunkar Begendi (Cheese Aubergine)
The main dish is 'kuzu kapama' (photo): roast lamb with tomatoes and potatoes, a very traditional Turkish dish, eaten everywhere in the country. We combine it with grilled eggplant/aubergine and cheese.
Turkish Barley Pudding
The name 'pudding' for this sweet dessert is a bit misleading, because similar dishes in other countries are called a soup. It contains slowly cooked wheat grains, nuts, raisins and cinnamon and is served cold.
