VISITING VENEZUELA
The food in Venezuela is a mixture of African, native Indian and European cuisines which has evolved over the centuries. It also shares many Caribbean influences in its flavors, techniques and ingredients. It is a flavorsome but not necessarily hot cuisine, using ingredients like sweet peppers, garlic, onions and coriander as flavor enhancers. National dish are arepas: fried or baked corn pancakes, either plain or with a filling and most Venezuelans eat them as part of their daily diet in place of bread. Tonight's Venezuelan dinner includes arepas, of course.
