Lorraine Soup
Today we start with a traditional Scottish soup with strangely enough the name of a French region: Lorraine or Lotharingen. The link is the French wife of Scottish king James V, Mary of Lorraine. But no idea why the soup was named after her! It's a tasty soup with minced chicken meat and ground almonds, combined with bread and milk.
Dundee Marmaladed Lamb with Rumbledethumps
Our juicy imported lamb chops come from New Zealand, but the way we prepare them tonight comes from the Scottish port town of Dundee. The marmalade makes the difference! A Scottish Lamb à l'Orange. It comes with the strangely named traditional side dish Rumbledethumps (photo) - an oven dish of mashed potatoes, cabbage and onions.
Strawberry Cranachan
What is a Scottish dinner without a drop of whisky? Therefore we do add it to the dessert - if you wish, of course. But don't think of these fresh strawberries as an alcoholic dessert, it is just a tiny little dash of Scotch that will be applied.
